[ANSEF]: ANSEF’s Team Work.

Members of FAR’s educational program committee recently visited the sites where this year’s grantees from the Armenian National Science and Education Fund (ANSEF) are currently conducting their research. For the past 10 months, these 27 groups have been working on a wide range of projects in the sciences and the humanities. Their work has been featured in more than 65 news articles published in international scientific journals and they have also presented their work at more than 40 conferences and symposiums throughout this year.

This week FAR will be highlighting the work of selected ANSEF groups.

Dr. Sarkisyan and ANSEF PS 1868

Dr. Davit Sarkisyan is spearheading the work on ANSEF Grant PS-1868. He and his group of five scientists are studying atomic transition behavior. Using this research, they are working on developing a nano cell that could be used for a number of scientific and technological applications, including the development of a revolutionized gas pressure gauge.

Dr. Sarkisyan is an experienced physicist who has received the ANSEF grant several times. As someone who has always stressed the importance of providing opportunity to young scientists, joining him this year are Armen Sargsyan, Hrant Hakhumyan, Rafael Mirzoyan and Andranik Baghdasaryan. Twenty-six-year-old Armen recently completed his Ph.D, and Hrant, 23, and Rafael, 22, are both in the process of earning their doctorate degrees. Andranik, 21, is working on a master’s degree at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University.

This year, six articles about the group’s work have been published in journals like Optics Express and Optics and Spectroscopy

Dr. Sarkisyan recently expressed his thoughts about the program. “ANSEF is a wonderful way to foster and support research and development,” he said. “This is a unique opportunity for young scientists to implement their first serious scientific experiments and it provides a springboard for expansion. And for us, we are also really learning to work well together as a team.”
