[Armenian Life]: French Jazz Band Tours Armenia for the First Time.

For the first time, the popular French jazz band Christophe Leloil Sextet is touring Armenia.

Formed in 2008, the group has held several concerts in France, but this is their first international tour. It’s no coincidence that they decided to come to Armenia, however.

“Such a concert tour became possible thanks to the efforts of French Embassy to Armenia and the sponsorship of the organizations Cultures France, La Fondation Aram Khachaturian, and others,” band manager Astrig Djolakian mentioned during a press conference held at Yerevan’s “Oregano” restaurant.

Most of Sextet’s members are from Marseille, a city with a strong Armenian community. Band leader Christophe LeLoil emphasized that they wish to connect with Armenian jazz musicians and hope to organize joint concert in future.

Marseille and Vanadzor are also sister cities; Christophe Leloil Sextet will perform in the cultural houses of Vanadzor. They will play in Spitak as well. Their closing concert will take place at Yerevan’s “Mezzo” jazz club on September 19.
