[FAR Scholarships]: Anoosh Mathevosian Scholarship: FAR-YSMU Clinical Residency Program 2010-2011.

Three years ago FAR started a pilot program with Yerevan State Medical University. The goal of the program was to assist YSMU graduates in obtaining their subspecialty in clinical residency program and, after graduation, start the mandatory work of their specialization in one of the Armenian provincial hospitals for 3-5 years.

Since the launch of the program, 6 YSMU graduates received scholarship on different medical specialties /gynecology, microsurgery, ENT, oncology-surgery, cardiology (2)/. It is worth mentioning that one of them -Edik Bayramyan, specialist of oncologic surgery, has already completed his residency and started to work in Dilijan Medical Center, according to the Agreement. 

This year, seven candidates have applied for scholarship. Based on the selection criteria and interviews with applicants, the Selection Committee, consisting of FAR and YSMU representatives made a final decision and selected three beneficiaries to receive scholarships: Gevorgyan Naira, Ararat (Ararat marz), Gastroenterology, Kirakosyan Alla, Vanadzor (Lori marz), Rheumatology, Vardanyan Vachagan, Goris (Syunik marz), Invasive Cardiology.

All selected candidates will sign agreement and upon graduation will work in the mentioned regions, in order to address the most important healthcare needs.

For the past 12 years, the Mathevosian Scholarship has provided much-needed assistance to students from extremely poor families who wish to study at universities around Armenia.
