[Beneficiary Portraits]: Gurgen Darbinyan

May 11, 2010

When Gurgen Darbinyan was nine his father died of a heart attack. Now 13, he lives with his mother in a makeshift, unheated shed in Gyumri. This spring he received the help he needed when FAR’s Children of Armenia Sponsorship Program (CASP) adopted him as a beneficiary.

Now Gurgen can attend the seventh grade with the proper school supplies he needs. He can also nurture his love of painting and singing through the school’s special programs. The assistance also helps his mother buy the firewood needed to heat their home and the food they need to survive.

  1. It breaks my heart to see so many families like this in Gyumri. I just want to thank FAR for finding those people and for willing to ease their pain!
